Wix Stock Surges Over 60% in August Amid Strong Financials and AI Growth
Wix's stock experienced a remarkable comeback in August, soaring by more than 60% and reversing earlier concerns about the impact of artificial intelligence on the company's operations. The Israeli tech firm's recent financial reports have alleviated investor fears, showcasing robust revenue growth and significant improvements in profitability, particularly from its new AI-powered application building tool, Base44.
Initially, Wix was perceived as vulnerable to the AI revolution. However, financial statements released early in August presented a different picture. Revenue increased by 15% to $563.1 million in the quarter, with all business segments demonstrating double-digit growth, indicating resilience against new AI tools in the market. This performance defied earlier investor anxieties that had previously driven the stock down from a high of nearly $200 to below $50.
The company's new AI tool, Base44, has emerged as a significant growth engine. Wix reported that Base44's annual recurring revenue (ARR) has surpassed $200 million, a substantial increase from $100 million just five months prior. Furthermore, the gross profit margin for Base44 is projected to reach 60%, a dramatic improvement from near zero at the start of the year.
Despite a market capitalization of $3.6 billion and a $1.6 billion share buyback in the spring, Wix's stock may still present an attractive valuation for long-term investors. Although the company incurred losses in 2026 due to heavy investments in Base44 and its new website builder, Wix Harmony, the high gross profit margins of its core business and the advancements in its AI segments are expected to lead to strong profitability and free cash flow in the future. With revenues of $2.1 billion last year, Wix projects exceeding $3 billion in three years if it maintains its 15% growth rate. Analysts anticipate that a net profit margin expansion to 20% could result in annual earnings of $600 million.
