Ultra-Orthodox News Site Holds "Primary Elections" for Knesset Candidates

The large ultra-Orthodox website Kikar HaShabbat has launched an online poll, dubbed "The Ultra-Orthodox Primary," allowing readers to vote for their preferred candidates for the upcoming 26th Knesset elections. The poll comes as parties finalize their lists for the elections.

The survey consists of four questions. The first asks readers to select up to three names from the Shas party list that served in the previous Knesset. The second question allows voters to choose up to three candidates from the United Torah Judaism party list from the last term. The third question focuses on current ultra-Orthodox mayors across the country, allowing participants to select up to three.

The final question is open-ended, inviting readers to suggest one additional name they would like to see in the next Knesset, encouraging surprise suggestions. The initiative aims to give the public a voice in shaping the representation of the ultra-Orthodox community in parliament.
