Leumi Bank Launches First Arabic-Language Mobile App in Israel

Leumi Bank is set to launch its mobile banking application in Arabic next week, marking the first time an Israeli bank offers its app in the Arabic language. This move is part of the bank's ongoing service revolution, which aims to make banking more accessible to all its customers. The app will also be available in French and Russian, bringing the total number of languages supported to five, making it the first bank app in Israel to offer such a wide linguistic range.

Arabic-speaking customers will be able to select their preferred language within the app and perform a comprehensive array of banking operations. These include reviewing current and foreign currency accounts, ordering credit cards and checkbooks, making multi-currency transfers, executing instant bank transfers (known as "Zahav"), converting foreign currencies, opening deposits, and applying for loans. Additional banking services will be added to the app in these languages at a later stage.

The bank highlighted that its app already facilitates nearly 100% of common banking transactions, positioning it as a leader in digital banking services. Leumi was previously the first bank in Israel to allow customers to request Zoom calls with bank representatives via the app and to complete mortgage applications digitally.

Eyal Efrat, Head of the Banking Division at Leumi, stated that the bank is committed to providing advanced, accessible, and suitable banking services for all customers. He emphasized that launching the app in Arabic is a significant step towards enhancing financial inclusion and tailoring services to the needs of the Arab community in Israel. Efrat added, "We believe that every customer should manage their financial affairs in the language that gives them a sense of comfort and reassurance, which is why we have worked to expand the digital banking experience to be more accessible and easier for hundreds of thousands of Arabic-speaking customers."
