New Academic Program Launched for Retail Management in Israel
The Israel Chamber of Commerce and Industry has launched a new academic program, the first of its kind in Israel, offering a Bachelor of Business Administration and Retail degree. The program aims to train the next generation of managers for the retail sector by combining academic knowledge with practical experience.
Approximately 70% of the curriculum focuses on theoretical and academic content, while the remaining 30% involves hands-on training within active businesses. This structure is designed to equip students with both theoretical tools and direct exposure to the daily challenges of the retail industry. The curriculum covers key business areas such as management, innovation, technology, marketing, and human resources, with the goal of preparing graduates for management roles amidst rapid changes in the retail landscape.
The launch event, held at the Chamber's offices in Tel Aviv, was attended by prominent figures from the industry, including Rami Levy, controlling shareholder of Rami Levy Chain Stores, Harel Wizel, CEO and owner of Fox Group, Gabi Rotter, Chairman of Castro, Roni Irani, owner of Factory 54, and Yisraela Steir Einstein, President of Steir Group.
Shachar Turgeman, President of the Israel Chamber of Commerce and Industry, highlighted the industry's transformation and the necessity of adapting management training to new realities. He stated that the retail sector is undergoing a revolution and that the integration of academic studies with practical field experience will be crucial for building the future management cadre.
Gitit Rubinstein, CEO of the Israel Chamber of Commerce and Industry, emphasized that the organization's activities extend beyond regulatory matters. She identified human capital as a major challenge and stressed the need to provide tools that support companies and managers in addressing long-term challenges. Graduates are expected to complete the program with both an academic degree and practical experience, ready to lead the retail sector in the coming years.
