Holon Man Arrested, Identified as Erez Cohen in Online Child Molestation Case

Authorities have released the identity of a 37-year-old Holon resident, Erez Cohen, arrested on suspicion of sexually harassing girls aged 9 to 12 via social media. A Tel Aviv magistrate court extended his detention by five days on Wednesday, September 2, and permitted the publication of his name. The investigation has gathered testimony from four girls who allegedly exchanged sexually explicit messages with Cohen. Investigators suspect that Cohen may have targeted other children as well.

During a search of Cohen's home, investigators seized a laptop and mobile phone. In extending the suspect's remand, Judge Raanan Baruch cited reasonable grounds for suspicion and evidence linking Cohen to the alleged offenses. The judge also noted the high probability of additional victims beyond the four girls who have already provided testimony.

Cohen's attorney, Omer Adiri, argued that the suspicions against his client are not concrete. He stated that Cohen invoked his right to remain silent during interrogations because investigators labeled him a "pedophile." The defense also contended that Cohen could not interfere with the investigation, as his electronic devices were confiscated, and requested his release under restrictive conditions, including an internet ban.

Following the court's decision, Cohen's lawyers, Ofer Adiri and Isabel Fuchs, stated that Cohen is cooperating with the investigation and has provided police with access codes to his seized devices. They expressed hope that the situation will soon become clear and all suspicions against their client will be dispelled.
