Netanyahu cross-examination ends, with trial set to move on soon
The prosecution on Sunday finished cross-examining Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, marking a major milestone in his trial after months of hearings in court. Netanyahu began testifying in December 2024, and his testimony is expected to total about 96 hearing days.
Many of those sessions were only partial because of repeated cancellations and shortened proceedings throughout the testimony period. Next week, a few more days of redirect examination are still expected, to be handled by Netanyahu’s attorney, Amit Hadad. If there are further delays, that stage could spill into the following week as well.
Once that phase is completed, Netanyahu’s testimony is expected to end and the trial will move to its next stage, with the remaining defense witnesses due to be heard. The pace of the proceedings is also expected to speed up from now on, because the testimony of a sitting prime minister, especially during an unprecedented war, has required numerous delays and cutbacks in court time.
