Fallen Soldier's Sister Starts School Where He Studied

Nessia Habshush began first grade this week at the Ahvat Torah school in Givat Binyamin, the same school attended by her older brother, Sergeant Major Noa Habshush, who was killed in action in southern Lebanon approximately two and a half months ago. The family is experiencing profound grief and longing as they mark this milestone.

Their mother, Einav Habshush, who manages the special education department for the Benjamin Regional Council, shared a poignant open letter to her fallen son. In it, she described the painful contrast between the joy of her younger daughter's first day of school and the unbearable loss of Noa. She expressed her efforts to remain strong for her family and her pregnancy, and asked Noa to watch over Nessia from above as she embarks on her new educational journey.

Israel Gantz, head of the Benjamin Regional Council and chairman of the Yesha Council, commented on the emotional event, highlighting the family's resilience. He noted that dozens of other bereaved families in the Benjamin region are also facing the start of the school year with sorrow and remembrance. Gantz urged the public to continue supporting bereaved families and the wounded, stating that Nessia's entry into the school gates represents the Jewish people's powerful response to their enemies.
