Netanyahu Targets Eisenkot, Who Fires Back With Netanyahu Praise Clip
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who has recently identified Gadi Eisenkot as his main political rival, released another campaign video Tuesday attacking him. Netanyahu claimed Eisenkot would not have ordered strikes in Iran.
Eisenkot quickly answered with a video showing Netanyahu speaking while Eisenkot was army chief. In the clip, Netanyahu praises his record, saying, "The IDF under your leadership, Gadi, attacked hundreds of times targets of Iran and Hezbollah in Syria. We salute you for your many merits."
The exchange comes as Netanyahu faces heavy criticism in recent days over what is being portrayed as a failure against Iran and over what opponents describe as a U.S. surrender agreement. On Monday night, Netanyahu delivered a public statement insisting, "With an agreement, without an agreement, Iran will not have nuclear weapons. Not today and not tomorrow. As long as I am Prime Minister of Israel, that will not happen."
In that statement, Netanyahu also defended the outcome of the confrontation with Iran, saying Israel and its allies had removed an immediate threat of destruction, carried out the largest strike sortie, eliminated nuclear scientists, decapitated the leadership of the terror regime, destroyed nuclear facilities, and wiped out missiles and most of the production plants.
