Netanyahu Targets Gadi Eisenkot Over Iran Deal, Says He Would Not Strike
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu released a video Tuesday morning attacking Gadi Eisenkot, the leader of the Yashar party, in the wake of the agreement signed between the United States and Iran. The clip, posted on social media, says Eisenkot would not have carried out an attack in Iran and that he cannot form a government without the Arab parties.
The video also includes an old quote attributed to Eisenkot, saying, “It is preferable to achieve this without war.” Netanyahu’s attack comes as Eisenkot has sharply criticized the Iran deal.
Eisenkot said Israel woke up to “an agreement being formed far from here and far from the Israeli interest.” He accused the government of lacking strategy and political courage. In a post, he wrote: “What began with the gravest failure, with historic internal and international legitimacy, ends in the sad result of a failed government.”
