False Alarm: Interceptors Fired in Northern Israel After Mistaken Threat
Early Wednesday morning, air raid sirens sounded in several communities in northern Israel, including Kfar Yuval, Ma'ayan Baruch, Dafna, and Hagoshrim, due to a suspected aircraft infiltration from Lebanon. The military launched interceptor missiles toward the perceived threat, prompting further alerts for rocket and missile fire in the area as a result of the interceptors' launch. Residents were instructed to enter protected spaces.
An initial IDF investigation revealed that the interceptors were likely fired at a false target, not an actual hostile aircraft. There were no casualties reported in the incident.
About fifteen minutes after the initial alerts, the Home Front Command announced the end of the event and that residents could leave protected areas. The Upper Galilee Regional Council stated that there was no change in the situation assessment or public directives, and that school classes and transportation would proceed as normal.
