Israel Blocks Draft Dodgers and Breslov Followers at Airport

Israeli security forces at Ben Gurion Airport apprehended six ultra-Orthodox men who are considered draft dodgers and attempted to leave the country. The men, who are obligated to serve in the military but have not enlisted, were stopped due to outstanding exit orders.

Two of the individuals were detained at Terminal 1, while the other four were caught at Terminal 3. Following their apprehension, they were handed over to the Population and Immigration Authority, where it was confirmed that active conscription orders prevented their departure from Israel.

In parallel, dozens of Breslov Hasidic followers attempting to travel to Uman, Ukraine, for Rosh Hashanah were also delayed. These individuals were stopped after it was discovered they had outstanding orders preventing their exit due to failure to report to IDF recruitment offices.

The issue extended beyond the airport, with another group of Hasidic followers detained at the Taba border crossing. They were attempting to enter Egypt with the intention of flying to European destinations and then continuing to Uman.

These incidents highlight increased security activity at Israel's exit points, aimed at preventing illegal departures by individuals evading military service.
