Ed Markey, Critic of Israel, Wins Massachusetts Senate Primary
Senator Ed Markey, a prominent critic of Israel in Congress, has won the Democratic primary election for his Senate seat in Massachusetts. Markey, 80, who has served in Congress for 50 years, defeated Representative Seth Moulton in the race.
During his campaign, Markey made strong statements regarding Israel's actions, accusing the country of committing war crimes in Gaza and calling its conduct "an absolute horror." He advocated for ending military aid and the sale of offensive weapons to Israel.
Markey also supported measures aimed at blocking the transfer of bombs and munitions to Israel. However, he did condemn the October 7th attacks and acknowledged Israel's right to self-defense.
The incumbent senator will face Republican John Deaton in the general election in November. Markey is considered the favorite to win in the Democratic-leaning state.
