IDF Officer Dismissed After Soldiers Prayed With Jewish Rioters

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has concluded an investigation into reservist soldiers from the Home Front Command who were documented praying with Jewish rioters in the West Bank village of Qusra approximately three weeks ago. The incident occurred while a Palestinian family was under siege in the area. The documentation caused significant damage to Israel's international image, being interpreted globally as IDF endorsement of the rioters rather than protection of Palestinian civilians under attack.

The IDF investigation determined that the commander of the force had been explicitly instructed to avoid actions that could be perceived as support for illegal activities or settlers, and to maintain a distance between soldiers and rioters. Despite these orders, when the Jewish rioters asked the soldiers to complete their prayer quorum, the commander permitted it, and the soldiers joined the prayer.

As a result of the investigation, the force commander was dismissed from his command position. No disciplinary action will be taken against the reservist soldiers, as they were acting under the direct orders of their commander. The incident has drawn international attention, with Britain announcing retaliatory measures due to the situation in settlements, and concerns raised about the international threat posed by disturbances in Qusra.
