US Embassy Warns Americans in Middle East Amid Escalating Iran Tensions

The U.S. Embassy in Israel issued a security alert Tuesday for American citizens in the Middle East, citing potential for unexpected escalation, flight cancellations, airspace closures, and travel disruptions. The embassy warned that Iran and its proxies could target U.S. interests and sites worldwide.

Americans were advised to maintain heightened vigilance, avoid demonstrations and large gatherings, identify safe locations in advance, and follow official guidance. The embassy in Jerusalem and its Tel Aviv consulate remain open for regular and emergency services.

Sources familiar with the matter described the alert as routine given current tensions and a response to heightened Iranian rhetoric. Shortly after the alert, a U.S. official confirmed to Al Arabiya that targeted defensive strikes were conducted on sites in Bandar Abbas, southern Iran, in response to Iranian attacks on ships in the Strait of Hormuz.

This follows a significant escalation between the U.S. and Iran. U.S. Central Command confirmed strikes on two Revolutionary Guard rocket launchers on Larrak Island in the Strait of Hormuz, stating Iran was preparing to launch mines. In retaliation, Iran launched ballistic missiles at King Hussein and Al-Azraq bases in Jordan, where U.S. forces are stationed. Most missiles were intercepted with no reported casualties or significant damage.

The tensions also extended to the UAE, where the Air Force intercepted an Iranian drone over its territorial waters. Iran claimed to have attacked the Al-Manhad base with drones, but the UAE denied any damage to the base.
