Journalist Claims Gadi Eisenkot More Left-Wing Than He Appears

Journalist Raviv Drucker stated on the 'All In' podcast that Gadi Eisenkot, chairman of the Yisrael Beiteinu party, is "much more left-wing than he presents himself" and "disguises his positions." This sentiment is echoed by many on the political right, who accuse Eisenkot of being a leftist who would form a government with Arab parties after elections.

Minister of Diaspora Affairs Amichai Chikli recently commented on Eisenkot's rising poll numbers, calling him a "worthy political rival" but unequivocally a "man of the left, to the extreme." Chikli cited Eisenkot's remarks at an INSS conference, where he reportedly viewed a figure controlling Syria as an "opportunity." Chikli questioned Eisenkot's judgment, asking how he could see such a person as an opportunity and highlighting Eisenkot's lack of political experience.

Chikli further compared Eisenkot to former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, whom he described as "corrupt, a crook, and a bad person." Chikli stated that when he joined Bennett's party, he believed it was a clear right-wing party committed to forming a right-wing government and preventing Yair Lapid from becoming prime minister. Chikli accused Bennett of breaking all commitments to voters, including on issues related to Lapid, Meretz, forming a right-wing government, and the coalition's democratic structure. He criticized Bennett's move to become prime minister with only six seats, deeming it absurd and detrimental to governmental stability.
