Lawyer Slams Ofer Winter's Leadership Bid as 'Megalomaniacal'

Attorney David Peter has criticized Brigadier General (res.) Ofer Winter's potential leadership bid, calling it a "megalomaniacal event" and questioning Winter's qualifications beyond his military service. Peter argued on the "Reichlin and Co." program that Winter's campaign appears self-centered and lacks demonstrated public service experience, stating, "You cannot lead the State of Israel with this." While acknowledging Winter's significant contributions to Israel's security, Peter asserted that Winter is not the right person to lead the nation.

In contrast, Peter highlighted eight achievements by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during the ongoing war since October 7th. These include expanding the coalition to stabilize the government, resisting U.S. President Biden's arms embargo, dismantling Syrian army capabilities within 48 hours, weakening Hezbollah, striking Iran and Shiite militias from Iraq, securing 70% control in Gaza, and facilitating the release of hostages.

Peter further contended that Winter misunderstands the electorate, particularly "swing voters." He defined these voters not as a small religious group but as secular, economically-minded individuals. Peter believes Netanyahu is adept at appealing to this demographic, unlike Winter, whom he accused of relying on the same voter base as former politicians Naftali Bennett and Ayelet Shaked.
