Maccabi Tel Aviv Climbs in New EuroLeague Power Rankings
As the new EuroLeague basketball season approaches in just over three weeks, featuring 20 teams including two Israeli clubs, new power rankings have been released. Hapoel Tel Aviv maintained its fifth-place position, while Maccabi Tel Aviv made a significant jump from 14th to 11th. The EuroLeague website highlighted Hapoel as one of the league's deepest teams, suggesting they could be dangerous if their new additions adapt quickly, and questioned if their second unit could contend for a playoff spot.
Maccabi Tel Aviv's rise is attributed to their new signings, Daniel Theis and Kiton Wallace, which the website noted have "definitely raised the ceiling" for the team and raised the question of whether they can lead coach Oded Katash and the team back to the playoffs.
The full rankings place Panathinaikos first, followed by Olympiacos, Fenerbahce, and Real Madrid. Hapoel Tel Aviv is fifth, with Dubai sixth, Anadolu Efes seventh, and Zalgiris eighth. Red Star Belgrade is ninth, Milan tenth, Maccabi Tel Aviv eleventh, and Barcelona twelfth. The rankings continue with Valencia, Partizan Belgrade, Bayern Munich, ASVEL, Besiktas, Paris, Virtus Bologna, and Baskonia rounding out the bottom.
