Maccabi Tel Aviv Targets EuroLeague Top 7-10 Finish After Summer Changes

In the latest episode of the sports show "Double Dribble," hosts Dror Hoffman, Roy Zuckerman, and Aharaleh Weisberg discussed Maccabi Tel Aviv's upcoming EuroLeague season. After a summer of roster changes, the team aims to improve its performance and secure a stronger position in the competition. Weisberg highlighted the advantage of continuity this season, noting that unlike previous years when Maccabi started with poor records, this year’s squad has more stability and experience, especially as many players have previously played under coach Kotsh. He also mentioned the addition of Bonzie Colson as a positive factor.

Weisberg pointed out that Maccabi begins the season against Villeurbanne and Besiktas, offering a chance to start with a balanced or positive record. He emphasized that the team is more solid and should gel faster than last year’s lineup, which included many players new to European basketball. Returning to play on home courts earlier in the season is another advantage for Maccabi.

Dror Hoffman added a political and financial perspective, crediting the Federman family for their role in keeping Maccabi in the EuroLeague despite challenges faced by Israeli basketball clubs. He stressed that Maccabi Tel Aviv remains the strongest political force in Israeli basketball.

Regarding performance goals, Hoffman stated that Maccabi should aim for a finish between 7th and 10th place in the EuroLeague this season. He expressed hope that Hapoel Tel Aviv would also benefit from the current situation and that fans would enjoy exciting games locally.
