Motorcyclist Dies After Collision With Car in Ramat Hasharon

A motorcyclist, approximately 60 years old, died Monday evening after being struck by a car on HaNetzach Street in Ramat Hasharon. Emergency medical teams provided treatment and transported him to Beilinson Hospital in Petah Tikva, where he was initially in critical condition but later succumbed to his injuries.

The police have launched an investigation into the circumstances of the fatal accident. According to the police, traffic accident investigators are at the scene to determine the cause of the collision involving the motorcycle and a private vehicle.

This incident occurs amidst a broader concern over road safety in Israel. Just last weekend, four people were killed in road accidents within a few hours. This year, nearly 300 people have died in traffic accidents, a figure that, while slightly lower than the same period last year, shows a concerning trend of diminishing improvement.

Experts warn that if the current pace continues, the number of road fatalities in 2026 could approach the 459 recorded in 2025, the highest in over two decades. Analysis indicates that young adults aged 20-34 are the most affected demographic, and most fatalities occur on intercity roads with higher speed limits and more severe accidents. Private vehicle occupants and drivers remain the largest group among the deceased.

In response to the ongoing road fatalities, the police announced earlier this month that enforcement thresholds for speed cameras on high-risk roads would be tightened. Some cameras will now document offenses with smaller deviations from the speed limit, while others will adjust the allowable speed deviation before a fine is issued.
