Wounded Reserve Officer Joins Knesset Member's New Political Party

Reserve Lieutenant Colonel Tomer Brook, who commanded a battalion during the October 7th Hamas attack and was wounded in Gaza, has joined the "Israel First" political party led by Knesset Member Sharren Haskel. Brook, 45, a father of seven and a veteran reservist who served in the Paratroopers Brigade, is also a high-tech professional. On October 7th, he mobilized his reserve battalion, which operated in the Gaza border region searching for terrorists and survivors, and later in Jenin, where he was injured by sniper fire. Following his recovery, Brook became publicly active on issues concerning reservists, war wounded, and social cohesion.

Haskel welcomed Brook, stating, "Israel First is strengthened today by a true leader. Tomer Brook didn't talk about responsibility, he took it on the morning of October 7th... and paid a heavy personal price." She added that her party seeks individuals who have proven themselves in difficult times, not just when convenient.

Reserve Lieutenant Colonel Roy Danino also commented on Brook's move, saying, "He who fought for the country deserves to lead it. Tomer Brook proved himself in the most difficult moments, in the field, under fire, and with responsibility for human lives." He emphasized that it's time for those who carried the country on their shoulders in battle to also take responsibility for its future.
