Police Arrest Southern Resident in Connection With "Prinuk" Baby Food Contamination Case

Israeli police have arrested a man from southern Israel in connection with the "Prinuk" baby food contamination case. The suspect, in his 40s, is believed to be involved in the alleged introduction of anesthetic substances into the company's fruit purees for infants.

The investigation, which began approximately two months ago after the Ministry of Health announced it was looking into the matter, has now reached a significant breakthrough with the identification and arrest of the suspect at his home. He has been taken for questioning.

Police stated that the suspect will be brought before the Jerusalem Magistrate's Court on Tuesday to request an extension of his detention. Investigators are also exploring the possibility of other individuals being involved.

Two months prior, the Ministry of Health launched an epidemiological investigation following reports of two children being hospitalized after consuming "Prinuk" brand fruit purees purchased from the "Zol Be'Gadol" retail chain. At the time, the ministry emphasized that a definitive link between the product and the children's condition could not be established, though the purees were sold individually, not in multi-packs.
