Tel Aviv Stock Exchange Sees Mixed Results in August
The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange concluded August with its main indices showing little change, reflecting a period of stagnation. The insurance index, however, emerged as a strong performer, surging 12% for the month, largely driven by positive financial reports from insurance companies. Conversely, the Cleantech index experienced a significant downturn, dropping nearly 10%.
Among individual stocks, insurance company Libra Insurance led the gains, rising over 30% following a strong quarterly report that highlighted substantial growth in revenues, profits, and premiums. Robotics manufacturer Medtronic saw an increase of more than 40%, fueled by reports of acquisition talks with FIMI Fund, despite a nearly 45% decline over the past year. Real estate firm Sadeh Properties, focused on Houston, Texas, jumped approximately 35% after a significant capital raise, and Multi Retail, owner of ACE and Autodirect, climbed 33% on news of a controlling stake sale.
On the downside, payment solutions provider Nayax experienced a sharp decline of about 25% after releasing disappointing financial results. The company, known for its vending machine payment systems, aims to provide a unified platform for parking, payments, and electric vehicle charging. Chip manufacturer Qualitau lost 35% of its value due to lukewarm financial reports, following a substantial five-year rally. Electra Real Estate, specializing in US rental properties, fell 27% amid factors including a loss-making asset sale and a weak US housing market. Urban renewal company Keshara Hitnachalut recorded a 28% decrease, partly attributed to aggressive selling by an investor early in the month.
