Eyal Golasa Retires From Soccer After Decorated Career

Israeli midfielder Eyal Golasa, 34, announced his retirement from professional soccer on Monday via Instagram, concluding a distinguished career marked by numerous titles and accolades. Golasa, widely regarded as one of the most talented and decorated players of recent decades, cited his body's need to stop after years of physical exertion.

His career spanned multiple clubs, beginning at Beitar Tubruk's youth academy before joining Maccabi Haifa in 2008. He debuted in the Israeli Premier League before turning 17 and played in the Champions League at 17.5. With Maccabi Haifa, he won two league championships and made 171 appearances. He later moved to Greece for two seasons with PAOK Thessaloniki.

In 2016, Golasa returned to Israel, signing with Maccabi Tel Aviv. He became a cornerstone of their midfield for eight seasons, accumulating 225 appearances and winning three more league titles, a State Cup, and two Super Cups. Maccabi Tel Aviv announced they would honor him before their upcoming match against Maccabi Haifa.

Golasa's final club was Maccabi Petah Tikva for the 2024-25 season, where he played 15 games before the team was relegated. Throughout his career, he earned 17 caps for the Israeli national team. In his farewell post, Golasa expressed gratitude to his family, coaches, teammates, medical staff, clubs, and fans, thanking God for his journey and the future.
