Iran and US in 'Clock War' Over Nuclear Program Amid Economic Strain

Israeli security officials believe Iran has ceased uranium enrichment since the "Operation with Dogs" campaign, viewing this as a significant achievement. However, a primary concern remains that enriched uranium has not been removed from the country and is still stored in underground facilities targeted by the US and Israel. Consequently, intelligence agencies have intensified surveillance of all Iranian facilities, including "Har HaMelech," to detect any deviations in activity, amid fears of attempts to move or rebuild nuclear materials and infrastructure.

The elimination of key nuclear scientists in the first and second tiers is considered crucial by Israel's security and political leadership. "Eliminating the centers of knowledge in the nuclear field makes it very difficult for the Iranians, now and in the foreseeable future, to restore infrastructure and make decisions on how to proceed. They can find solutions, but it will be complex," stated a security source.

Iranian military industries have reportedly suffered severe damage from Israeli and US military actions. Israeli assessments suggest Iran has resumed production but on a limited scale, far from its pre-operation goals, with recovery efforts complicated by US sanctions. A security official noted that Iran's recent launches of short-range missiles and rockets indicate limitations in their long-range arsenal.

Both Iran and the US are described as being in a "clock war," with the question being "who will fold first?" The White House is concerned about rising oil prices, potential inflation, economic crises due to war expenditures, and the upcoming midterm elections in November.

Iran is struggling under US economic pressure, and despite threats from President Trump, new, heavy sanctions that would accelerate the crisis have not yet been implemented. Israeli security sources assess that to escape its economic crisis and prevent widespread public unrest, Iran might initiate a war against Gulf states and US interests in the Middle East. To prepare for any eventuality, the Israeli Chief of Staff has ordered a high level of readiness.
