Court Orders Compensation for Victims of 'Guardian of the Walls' Lynch Mob

Two individuals convicted of involvement in a mass lynching of Jews during the "Guardian of the Walls" operation have been ordered by a Jerusalem court to pay over 220,000 shekels in compensation to three victims. The Jerusalem Magistrate's Court ruled that each of the three plaintiffs, represented by attorney Chaim Bleicher of the Honenu organization, will receive 60,000 shekels. Additionally, the defendants must pay 36,000 shekels for legal fees and court costs. Judge Eliad Winshel determined that the defendants are jointly and severally liable for the full damages.

The incident occurred on Jerusalem Day in 2021. The plaintiffs were driving towards the Western Wall when they encountered a mob of rioters near Rockefeller Junction. The rioters threw stones, sprayed pepper spray, and violently attacked the passengers because of their Jewish religious appearance, motivated by nationalist sentiment. The three victims sustained minor injuries, including cuts, pain, and significant distress.

The judge rejected the defense's claim that one of the defendants played only a minor role, emphasizing the severity of the incident which warrants substantial compensation. Attorney Bleicher welcomed the ruling, stating that Honenu will continue to pursue accountability for terrorists to create deterrence.
