Southern Israel Conducts Large-Scale Security Drill Ahead of School Year

Residents of the Lachish region in southern Israel are experiencing an increased police and security presence on Monday, August 31, as part of a large-scale operational readiness drill. The exercise, taking place between 6:30 AM and 10:00 AM, is designed to prepare the Southern District Police for the upcoming school year and the High Holy Days period. The drill will involve multiple locations across the Lachish area and will test the coordination of Israel Police officers, Border Police combatants, fire and rescue services, Magen David Adom (MDA) emergency medical services, and other security and emergency personnel.

The exercise is being conducted under the guidance of Southern District Commander Superintendent Chaim Bublil, aiming to assess and enhance operational preparedness for the busy period ahead. Police are advising the public that the heightened activity is part of the planned drill. However, they emphasize that any reports of actual emergencies or suspicious incidents should be immediately directed to the police hotline at 100.
