Singer Shachar Tavori Returns to Festigal With New Pressures

Singer Shachar Tavori is preparing for his third appearance at the Festigal, a popular Israeli musical theater production for children and families, admitting that the success of the previous year brings significant pressure. He revealed in an interview that he fears not meeting expectations this year but finds strength in his faith and considers Festigal a "home."

Tavori attributes his return to the stage to "many prayers," including a 40-day commitment to reciting a specific Jewish prayer, "Nishmat Kol Chai." He expressed his dedication to his craft, stating, "I pray before every prayer. Now, during the High Holidays, I ask that the song will succeed, during the blowing of the shofar. I'm really trying. In the end, who decides?"

He praised the Festigal production team for their support of his religious observance, allowing him to keep Shabbat and maintain his dietary laws. "Festigal is home. These are the best people I've ever met," Tavori stated, highlighting how the production accommodates his needs within its demanding schedule. He feels more comfortable this year, joking that he can now "make a little mess" but still strives to be a "good kid."

This year's participation is particularly special as he shares the stage with Noa, his childhood best friend. "Imagine having your best friend from childhood, since you were zero years old. Noa and I grew up together, our first project together, everything together," he said.

Despite his confidence in his performance, Tavori confessed to personal anxiety about his new song. "I won't lie, I have personal fear about the song," he admitted. "Thanks to God Almighty, I had the privilege of winning last year. I want to bring a song that people will really enjoy and be excited about, and that won't lower their expectations. So I'll do the best I can." He is, however, enthusiastic about this year's Festigal theme, which blends the biblical spies with the pop music world, calling it "crazy."
