Prominent New York Rebbes to Meet President Trump at White House

Several prominent Hasidic rebbes from New York have received official invitations from U.S. President Donald Trump's office to attend a special meeting at the White House in Washington. The invitations were extended to the rebbes of Satmar, Skver, Bobov, and Vizhnitz Monsey.

The organizers stated that the meeting aims to express gratitude to the president for his actions benefiting the Jewish community. Local activists and political figures have begun preparations for the meeting, which is scheduled for Thursday.

The Satmar Rebbe addressed the invitation during a sermon in Kiryas Joel. He initially hesitated due to the demands of the Elul study period and preparations for the High Holidays. However, he decided to attend, recalling a past instance where such a meeting aided Jews in distress. "Now there is a Jew in distress, and I thought perhaps through the meeting we can help him," the Rebbe stated.

He also intends to use the occasion to discuss the issue of yeshiva students' conscription into the Israeli military. Despite the significance of the meeting, the Rebbe urged his students not to focus excessively on it, saying, "I ask all the students not to get absorbed in this. One lesson on the topic in yeshiva is worth more in my eyes than this whole matter."
