Veteran Health Desk Chief Keti Dor Departs Israeli Public Broadcasting

Keti Dor, head of the Health Desk at Kan News, announced her departure from the Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation after 36 years in public broadcasting, including nine and a half years with the corporation and 15 years leading the health coverage.

Dor described her work in journalism as a "very great mission" where the public interest was always paramount. She expressed professional pride in her career, highlighting investigations, headlines, publications, exposés, and documentaries that she believes led to significant changes in Israel. Among her notable work, she cited the exposure of the condition of poet David Avidan and the revelation of infected blood transfurtenances given to a nine-year-old child, which she stated influenced blood donation guidelines.

Another significant contribution mentioned was her series of investigative reports on hospital-acquired infections, which led to the establishment of a national unit to combat infections and a State Comptroller investigation. Dor also recalled her intensive two-and-a-half-year leadership of the news coverage for the COVID-19 pandemic across all Kan platforms.

Reflecting on her time at the corporation, Dor called them "wonderful years, a renaissance for real journalists." She thanked editors, producers, photographers, managers, colleagues, reporters on the health desk, and sources who supported her throughout her career.

Concluding her statement, Dor addressed the changes in journalism over the years, emphasizing the importance of upholding journalistic values. "Precisely because of this, we must continue to fight for journalistic values because there is no other way. We will not stop chasing the truth," she wrote, adding, "It's not over, it's just changing. See you in the next chapter."
