Chimpanzees React to New Fan Installation at Ramat Gan Safari
A new fan installed in the chimpanzee enclosure at the Ramat Gan Safari in Israel has sparked a dramatic reaction from the primates. The large fan, intended to provide relief during hot summer days, was met with suspicion and vocalizations from the chimpanzee group.
Footage captured at the safari shows the chimpanzees climbing to the tops of wooden structures and logs within their habitat. From these vantage points, they observed the unfamiliar object with caution, emitting loud, prolonged calls to alert other members of their troop.
The vocal alarm spread rapidly, with all the chimpanzees quickly joining the chorus. They were observed running between the structures and investigating the source of the disturbance together. The commotion even drew the attention of gibbons in a nearby enclosure, who added their own calls to the escalating chorus.
The safari's press office released the footage, documenting the chimpanzees' intense and noisy response to the introduction of the new equipment.
