Israeli mixed martial artist Ilay Barzilai is on the verge of signing with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), according to an exclusive interview. Barzilai, who holds an 8-1 professional record, believes his recent victory over Lucas Almeida has significantly boosted his standing with UFC executives. He stated that UFC officials contacted his agent expressing interest in him for a short-notice fight in late August, but ultimately chose another fighter.

Barzilai explained that he understands the UFC's strategic approach, especially with non-American athletes, and is patiently awaiting his opportunity.
