Gantz Reveals US Generals Urged Israel Against Gaza Operation Post-Oct 7
Benny Gantz, a member of the Israeli Knesset and head of the National Unity party, revealed that the Biden administration sent four senior U.S. generals to Israel following the October 7th Hamas attack. Their mission was to dissuade Israeli leadership from launching a military operation in the Gaza Strip.
Gantz stated in an interview on Raz Shauver's podcast that the American generals argued against the operation, citing potential failures similar to U.S. difficulties in Fallujah, Iraq. However, Gantz rejected their position, asserting that Israel had no choice but to act militarily and forcefully in Gaza to respond to the attack and secure the release of hostages.
Separately, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken posted on X expressing support for Turkey's call for a ceasefire and the immediate release of all hostages. This statement was interpreted by some as U.S. opposition to a military operation in Gaza and was later deleted following public criticism.
