Ethiopian Israeli Community Threatens to Leave Bennett's Party Over Representation

The Ethiopian Israeli outreach division of the Together party, led by Naftali Bennett, is threatening to leave the party if their leader, Alale Adamsu, is not placed on the Knesset list. Adamsu, a former ambassador and Knesset member, stated that thousands of community members volunteered for nearly a year, organizing events and building a database, only to be met with uncertainty regarding their representation.

Adamsu described the situation as a "spit in the face," expressing disappointment after extensive volunteer efforts. He highlighted that the community's agenda includes facilitating the immigration of Ethiopian Jews and addressing issues like employment, education, violence, and discrimination. "We want to be political partners to advance the agenda and deal with the problems," Adamsu said, emphasizing that without representation, they will leave.

Nir Nork, a close advisor to Bennett, reportedly told Adamsu that while he appreciates his work, a "realistic place" on the Knesset list could not be guaranteed. This response has further fueled the community's frustration.

Community leaders echoed Adamsu's sentiments, with one stating that thousands of people who worked for Bennett for a year are demanding a place for their representative. They warned that if Adamsu is not included, the community will not support Bennett, and some are even considering creating content to undermine his campaign.

Despite the ultimatum, community members indicated that the door remains open if Adamsu is given a suitable position on the party's list. The Together party has not yet responded to requests for comment.
