Ex-Yeruham Mayor Tal Ohana Joins Gadi Eisenkot's 'Yashar' Party

Former Mayor of Yeruham, Tal Ohana, is expected to join Gadi Eisenkot's "Yashar" party, according to reports. Eisenkot is reportedly planning to officially introduce Ohana as the newest addition to his party soon, following recent discussions between the two.

Ohana, 42, began her political career in Yeruham, serving on the local council before becoming deputy mayor. In 2018, she was elected as the first female mayor of Yeruham. However, in the 2024 local elections, she lost her bid for re-election to Nili Aaron of the Likud party.

Ohana holds degrees in sociology and public policy and has focused on education, economic development, and employment in the Negev region during her public service. She currently works in local economic development and executive coaching.

Her move to "Yashar" is seen as a significant boost for Eisenkot's party, which has been attracting several prominent public figures in recent months. These include former Shin Bet chief Yoram Cohen, former minister Matan Kahana, former MK and minister Orit Farkash Hacohen, Shaul Meridor, and retired General Kamil Abu Rokon.

Ohana's decision to join "Yashar" comes after previous reports indicated that former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett had also approached her about joining his party. Neither the "Yashar" party nor Tal Ohana have yet issued an official comment.
