Singer Rahamimov Releases New Song for High Holy Days

Ahead of the Jewish month of Elul, a period of repentance and forgiveness, singer Nahorai Rahamimov has released a new song titled "El Nora Alila." Rahamimov wrote and composed the song, which blends the traditional Yom Kippur prayer with a message of unity, forgiveness, and reconciliation.

Rahamimov stated that the song was inspired by his recent feelings. "The month of mercy and forgiveness is here, and with it a song I wrote and composed out of pain and a genuine desire for us to unite and learn to love one another," he explained. The song directly addresses divisions within Israeli society, with lyrics like "Those blocking the road and the draft dodgers in Tel Aviv, enough of this division."

The chorus incorporates the well-known Yom Kippur piyyut (liturgical poem) "El Nora Alila," transforming it into a call to end hatred. Rahamimov sings, "El Nora Alila, El Nora Alila, grant me forgiveness at the closing hour. Enough of all the hatred, we are brothers by blood."

The song continues to weave personal and national themes, touching on the search for connection with God, coping with despair, and the desire to return to prayer for peace in Israel. The music video features scenes at the Western Wall, symbolizing a shared connection and unity.

Rahamimov expressed his hope that the song will strengthen unity, especially during a time of perceived threats to Jewish people. "I wish all the people of Israel a sweet new year and may we be strengthened together and make a great sanctification of God's name in heaven," he said. Daniel Patimar arranged and produced the song, while Mor Eido directed and edited the music video.
