Israeli Police Seize Large Weapons Cache Including M16 in Kafr Kanna Raid

On August 23, Northern District police conducted a targeted raid on an agricultural building in Kafr Kanna following intelligence reports of illegal weapons storage. The operation, supported by aerial drone surveillance, uncovered a significant cache including an improvised submachine gun, an M16 rifle, magazines, and a large quantity of ammunition. Two local residents, aged 18 and 20, were arrested on suspicion of illegal weapons possession. Their detentions have been extended by the court as investigations continue.

This seizure is part of an ongoing effort by Israeli police to combat violent crime and illegal arms possession in the region. Since the start of the year, over 600 lethal weapons have been confiscated by Northern District police and Border Police forces. Authorities emphasized their commitment to using advanced technology, such as drones, to enhance operational effectiveness and public safety.

The police stated they will persist in their efforts to locate and confiscate illegal weapons to protect residents and maintain security. Further detention extensions are expected as investigators gather more evidence regarding the circumstances of the weapons possession.
