Ofer Iyubi Appointed Deputy Mayor of Jerusalem Overseeing Community and Health Affairs

The Jerusalem City Council unanimously approved the appointment of Ofer Iyubi as Deputy Mayor of Jerusalem on Thursday. Iyubi, representing the 'One Jerusalem' faction led by Mayor Moshe Lion, will oversee the community administrations and health portfolios. Iyubi has been active in Jerusalem's public sphere for about 17 years, beginning as a community activist in the Gilo neighborhood and later serving as chairman of its community administration. In 2018, he joined Moshe Lion's list and served as his senior advisor until now, when he assumed his new roles as city council member and deputy mayor.

In his speech at the city council, Iyubi expressed deep personal connection to Jerusalem, stating, "Jerusalem is not just the city where I live. Jerusalem is part of me, it is in my soul." He emphasized his commitment to serving all neighborhoods, communities, and residents of the city with dedication and responsibility. Iyubi thanked Mayor Moshe Lion for his trust, his colleagues, and his family, concluding with gratitude to God for the opportunity to serve Jerusalem and its success.

This appointment marks a continuation of Iyubi's longstanding public service in Jerusalem, now with expanded responsibilities in city governance under Mayor Lion's leadership.
