Netanyahu holds first press conference since March after US-Iran deal is signed
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu gave a special public statement on Monday evening, June 15, 2026, after the signing of the agreement between the United States and Iran. It was his first press conference since March.
The remarks came shortly after US President Donald Trump said the deal with Iran was already signed and that the “door is partially open.” Trump said sanctions would not be lifted until Iran did what it was supposed to do, but argued that if the agreement is carried out, the Middle East will benefit. He said oil prices would fall and stock markets would rise, adding that the region was moving toward a barrel price similar to the level seen before the war.
Earlier in the evening, former prime minister Naftali Bennett delivered his own statement and sharply attacked Netanyahu. Bennett said that in the “1,000-day war with Israel,” IDF soldiers and all security branches had shown “extraordinary courage” and “stunning ingenuity,” but that the leadership had failed.
He said Netanyahu’s government began with “a civil war,” continued through the October 7 massacre, and is ending in “a historic failure” against Iran.
