Netanyahu issues muted response to emerging Iran deal
The Prime Minister’s Office said this evening, Thursday, that Prime Minister Netanyahu responded to President Trump’s announcement about the emerging agreement with Iran. The statement said, "President Trump spoke this evening with Prime Minister Netanyahu about the developing memorandum of understanding with Iran for entering negotiations. Although Israel is not a party to the memorandum of understanding, the Prime Minister expressed his appreciation for President Trump’s commitment that the final agreement at the end of the negotiations will include the removal of enriched material, dismantling of enrichment infrastructure, limiting missile production, and ending Iran’s support for its terrorist proxies in the region." Earlier, journalists and security commentators criticized Israel’s position on the matter and argued that the emerging deal represents a failure for Israel and its interests. It should be noted that earlier today Trump said that the U.S. and Iran are close to signing an agreement and that it is expected to be signed in the coming days.
