US Ambassador in Lebanon Approved to Meet Hezbollah Amid Rising Tensions

A Lebanese report on Thursday stated that US Ambassador to Lebanon, Michele Isaac, has received approval to meet with Hezbollah, although Washington has not yet responded to the report. This development follows the United States' announcement last week of new sanctions and an updated designation of Hezbollah as a global terrorist organization, emphasizing its ties to Iran and the Quds Force, despite the group already being labeled as such since 2001.

In parallel diplomatic and security developments, Israel conveyed a stark message through security channels that a pilot program in southern Lebanon has failed. Israel expressed deep dissatisfaction to the US regarding the Lebanese army's performance, accusing it of ineffectiveness in countering terrorist infrastructure and militants in the area.

According to senior IDF officials, Lebanese Armed Forces Chief of Staff Rudolf Heikal fears confrontation with Hezbollah commanders in southern Lebanon and continues to cooperate with the group, failing to conduct effective detection and scanning operations against weaponry. This tension arises as the IDF continues strikes on Hezbollah facilities in southern Lebanon, including the Nabatiyeh region.
