13 Israeli Combat Engineers Desert Frontline in Lebanon After Disciplinary Action
An unusual and serious incident occurred in Lebanon involving 13 combat engineers from Battalion 603, part of Brigade 7, who deserted the combat zone without authorization. Earlier in the week, these soldiers conducted a ceremony that involved humiliating other soldiers and using violence against them. Upon learning of this misconduct two days ago, the battalion commander imposed disciplinary sanctions on the involved soldiers. In response to the punishment, the soldiers chose to abandon the frontline without their commanders' approval. This event is exceptional as it involves soldiers leaving the battlefield amid ongoing operations due to internal disciplinary proceedings. The Israeli military is currently addressing the incident with the relevant authorities given the severity of deserting the combat zone without permission.
