Reserve Brigadier General Ilan Malka Appointed Acting Head of Israeli Civil Administration
Reserve Brigadier General Ilan Malka, former commander of the Givati Brigade and chief of staff of the IDF Central Command, has been appointed as the acting head of the Israeli Civil Administration. He replaces Brigadier General Hisham Ibrahim, who was recently named the military secretary to the Defense Minister, Israel Katz. This change follows the Chief of Staff's decision to avoid appointing senior officers until 2027.
Malka has held several senior military roles, including deputy commissioner of the Israel Prison Service and head of its headquarters division at the rank of Major General, as well as chief of staff of the Central Command in the reserves. He commanded the Givati Brigade during Operation Cast Lead.
Brigadier General Hisham Ibrahim, a Druze officer with a distinguished career, served as the IDF's chief armor officer, commander of the 460th and 205th brigades, and deputy commander of the 91st Division. In June, Defense Minister Israel Katz announced Ibrahim's appointment as his military secretary after interviewing several candidates and consulting with the Chief of Staff.
