All Suspects in Eldar Dayan Murder Case Released Amid Investigation Challenges

All seven suspects involved in the death of Eldar Dayan were released from custody after four days under house arrest, as no court hearing was held to extend their detention. Despite ongoing suspicions, the suspects are now completely free due to the police not requesting an extension of their house arrest. This decision followed the forensic report on Dayan's remains, found in an open area in Petah Tikva last month, which concluded that the cause of death could not be determined. Earlier in the week, two of Dayan's friends, Maxim Barberman and Omri Peretz, who were among the suspects, were placed under house arrest. The police initially sought a two-week extension, but the Petah Tikva Magistrate's Court judge Ronen Peleg limited it to until Thursday. Due to investigative difficulties, the police informed the suspects' lawyers that no further detention hearings would take place, leading to their release. The Abu Kabir Institute of Forensic Medicine's report stated that the condition of the remains prevented establishing the cause of death. Police acknowledged that the evidence had been exhausted and that they could not build a solid case for murder, despite expectations to the contrary. Dayan's body was discovered about four weeks ago after he was initially reported missing. Authorities noted that without concrete evidence, linking the suspects to murder charges would be difficult.
