New Modiin Stream Bridge Opens on Route 446, Easing Traffic for Tens of Thousands

A significant milestone in the expansion of Route 446 in western Binyamin was reached with the opening of the new Modiin Stream Bridge. The bridge now operates with two lanes in each direction, replacing the temporary traffic detour that was in place during construction. This development is part of a larger project aimed at widening Route 446 to three lanes each way from Modiin Illit to the Shilat junction, which is also planned to be converted into an interchange in the future.

The project is designed to improve traffic flow and enhance safety for the tens of thousands of daily commuters using this key route. Israel Gantz, head of the Binyamin Regional Council and chairman of the Yesha Council, described the opening as a major benefit for residents and road users in western Binyamin, emphasizing the goal to complete the full road expansion and fundamentally improve transportation conditions in the area.

Transportation Minister Miri Regev affirmed the Ministry of Transportation's commitment to investing in infrastructure in Binyamin, focusing on road widening and safety improvements. Ministry Director-General Moshe Ben Zaken highlighted that the bridge opening and road expansion will strengthen safety, improve traffic flow, and reduce travel times along this vital corridor.
