Ariana Grande Breaks Down in Tears During Los Angeles Concert
Ariana Grande was moved to tears during a concert in Los Angeles, part of her first tour in about five years, after the crowd’s applause and affection overwhelmed her. Performing in front of thousands at a Los Angeles stadium, she paused to speak to fans and repeatedly thanked them for their support.
“Thank you so much, God. L.A., thank you so much. Are you kidding me? What the hell? I have never experienced a crowd like this in my life,” Grande said while wiping away tears. She added that the reaction was “so overwhelming, in the most beautiful way,” and told the audience they had been “an loving and safe presence” for her over the years. “It means so much to me. You’re incredible. I love you so much and have always loved you,” she said.
As she cried, Grande joked, “You can’t do this to me, you know what’s going to happen. You know I’m a Cancer. This is going to happen.” The emotional moment may also have been influenced by recent personal news, including reports last week that she and partner Ethan Slater, whom she had dated for three years, had split. She has also faced two years of intense public scrutiny over her appearance and health, including persistent rumors about an eating disorder.
After a few minutes, Grande recovered her composure and returned to her usual humor. “This is also the first time I’ve toured with contact lenses. It’s so nice to see you for the first time in my life and be able to connect. It’s very powerful,” she said. The tour supports her album Eternal Sunshine, released on March 8, 2024, and its deluxe edition, Eternal Sunshine: Brighter Days Ahead, released a year later. It comes shortly before her eighth studio album, Petals, due out on July 31.
