Ariana Grande Breaks Down in Tears During Emotional Los Angeles Concert
Ariana Grande cried on stage during a Los Angeles show on her first tour in about five years, after the audience’s loud applause and affection overwhelmed her. While wiping away tears at the stadium performance, she told fans, "Thank you so much, God. L.A., thank you so much. Are you kidding me? What the hell? I've never experienced an audience like this in my life."
Grande said the reaction felt "so overwhelming, in the most beautiful way," and thanked the crowd for being a "loving and safe presence" in her life over the years. "That means so much to me. You are incredible. I love you so much and I always have," she said, before adding, "You can't do this to me, you know what will happen. You know I'm a Cancer. It will happen."
The emotional moment came just days after foreign media reported that Grande and her partner of three years, Ethan Slater, had ended their relationship. It also follows two years of intense and often harsh public discussion about her appearance and health, including persistent rumors that she has an eating disorder.
After a few minutes of tears, Grande recovered her composure and joked that this was her first tour using contact lenses. She said it was "so nice to see you for the first time in my life and actually be able to connect. That's very powerful." The current tour supports Eternal Sunshine, released on March 8, 2024, and its deluxe edition, Eternal Sunshine: Brighter Days Ahead, released a year later. It also comes shortly before her eighth studio album, Petals, due out on July 31.
