Yeshiva Student Israel Gohfi Detained in Haifa and Transferred to Military Police
Israel Gohfi, a yeshiva student known for his hardline views, was detained in Haifa and handed over to the military police. According to the organization 'Am Kadosh,' Gohfi, who began the Elul period studying at the Kfar Hasidim yeshiva, was stopped by police in Haifa due to a problem with his Rav-Kav transit card while en route to Rekhasim. Following his arrest, he was transferred to the military police. 'Am Kadosh' is providing him with legal assistance through lawyers and supporting his family with guidance and accompaniment.
Gohfi is a well-known activist who participates in protests against the detention of yeshiva students. Previously, until about a year ago, he studied at the Beit Midrash Elyon yeshiva in Bnei Brak. This incident follows a similar recent arrest on Friday night of Mordechai (Moti) Mishkovsky, a student at Netivot Yitzhak yeshiva in Tel Aviv and grandson of Rabbi Nathan Zuchovsky, head of the Gaon Yaakov yeshiva and member of the rabbis' committee of the Yated Ne'eman newspaper. Mishkovsky was detained near Beit Shean junction and also transferred to the military police.
