Satmar and Other Hasidic Communities Celebrate Weddings and Religious Events Across Israel and Abroad
In recent days, various Hasidic communities have marked significant religious and family celebrations both in Israel and abroad. In Antwerp, Belgium, the Rimanov Hasidim joyously celebrated the wedding of the son of the Rimanov Rebbe, who is also the son-in-law of the Komarna Rebbe from Jerusalem. Meanwhile, in Jerusalem, a grand "parshpil" (festive dance) and a send-off ceremony took place with the participation of numerous prominent rabbis and rebbes from different Hasidic and non-Hasidic groups.
The start of the Elul period was marked with a special gathering at the Tsanz-Zhmigrad study hall, where the Tsanz Rebbe made a surprise visit to a packed hall filled with learners from various Jewish traditions. In a separate religious observance, the Satmar Rebbe fulfilled the mitzvah of "shiluach haken" (sending away the mother bird) late at night in his courtyard in Kiryas Joel, Monsey, accompanied by blessings to the assembled crowd.
Other notable events included the Bobov 45 Rebbe’s visits to four summer camps in the Catskills to celebrate the conclusion of the study period, and the Zvehil Hasidim’s grand Torah scroll dedication parade in Jerusalem. Additionally, thousands gathered at the Mount of Olives to commemorate the yahrzeit of the Shomrei Emunim Rebbe, and the Tsanz-Kloiznburg Rebbe was seen praying in Jerusalem’s Mitzri Tiran street.
In Beit Shemesh, the Satmar Rebbe conducted Shabbat prayers and a festive meal at local synagogues, followed by a public "Kiddush Levana" ceremony in the city streets. The Rebbe also visited Rabbi Moshe Sternbuch during the weekend. Meanwhile, the Satmar girls’ school "Beit Rachel" issued a strict dress code banning denim clothing even outside school hours, emphasizing modesty.
These events reflect the vibrant religious life and communal solidarity among various Hasidic groups as they prepare for the High Holy Days. The first week of Elul also saw the Tsanz Rebbe traveling to multiple Hasidic centers across Israel, including Haifa, Safed, and Beit Shemesh, to bless followers and city officials. In Monsey, the Satmar Rebbe held a special tish (festive gathering) in honor of the "Yetev Lev" Rebbe’s yahrzeit, offering prayers for mercy and salvation ahead of the Days of Judgment.
Other community milestones included a bris ceremony in Ashdod for the grandson of the Tchernobyl Rebbe, attended by prominent rabbis, and a bar mitzvah celebration in Jerusalem for the eldest grandson of the Rachmastrivka Rebbe, featuring the presence of the Karlin-Stolin Rebbe. These gatherings were marked by joyous singing, dancing, and expressions of humility and devotion.
