Extreme Islamism and Radical Left Unite to Justify Violence Against Jews Since 1929 Hebron Massacre

On August 24, 1929, armed Arab assailants brutally massacred 66 Jews in Hebron, including children and elderly, in a horrific attack marked by extreme violence and atrocities. The incitement for this massacre came from Haj Amin al-Husseini, the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, who spread false claims about Jewish actions at the Western Wall and called for violence against Jews, rallying crowds with cries of "Allahu Akbar" and "Kill the Jews." Al-Husseini established his influence through extremist religious education and deep-rooted anti-Jewish hatred, which later became foundational to Hamas's 1988 charter.

This violent ideology was not limited to religious nationalism but was also supported by the radical left. Nearly a century later, following the October 7, 2023 Hamas attacks involving mass killings, rapes, and kidnappings in Israeli communities near Gaza, this alliance between radical Islamism and the left remains active. Instead of universal condemnation, many progressive and socialist groups in Western universities and public spheres justified or even celebrated the atrocities, framing them as anti-colonial resistance or social justice struggles. Demonstrations in cities like New York, London, and Berlin echoed slogans that justified violence against Jews as part of a global revolutionary cause.

Today’s organized antisemitism in the West reflects a symbiotic relationship where radical socialism provides ideological legitimacy and extreme Islamism supplies fanatic motivation and execution. From al-Husseini’s era to 21st-century progressive student groups, the objective remains the demonization of Israel and the denial of Jewish rights to security and sovereignty.
