Satmar Rebbe Blesses Monsi Community as Elul Observances Begin

The Satmar Rebbe held a special tish (Hasidic gathering) in Monsi to commemorate the yahrtzeit (anniversary of passing) of his grandfather, the Yetev Lev, blessing the local Hasidic community ahead of the Jewish New Year. Following the tish, community members were invited to pray for salvation and mercy during the Days of Judgment.

In Ashdod, the brit milah (circumcision) of the grandson of the Tosh Hasidic Rebbe took place, with prominent rabbis and family members participating, including the Sandak, the head of the Maor Hachaim rabbinical court. Meanwhile, the Vizhnitz Rebbe of Monsi prepared to lead a large pilgrimage to Meron, emphasizing strict rules such as no internet use, no cameras, and prohibiting visits to the sea during the trip.

Throughout the week, various Hasidic leaders conducted significant events: the Lelov Rebbe celebrated Shabbat in Bnei Brak with a public Kiddush Levana ceremony; the Kretshnif Rebbe held a third meal in memory of his father with notable Hasidic figures attending; and the Shomer Emunim Rebbe marked the yahrtzeit of his ancestor with prayers and a visit to the Mount of Olives cemetery.

Other highlights included the joyous wedding of the youngest daughter of the Kasan Rebbe in Beit Shemesh, attended by hundreds of Hasidim and rabbis from multiple dynasties; the Modzitz Rebbe’s emotional completion of the Talmud tractate Rosh Hashanah in Bnei Brak; and the Vizhnitz Rebbe’s grand wedding celebration for his grandson, featuring lively dancing and blessings.

These events reflect the vibrant spiritual life and communal unity among Hasidic groups in Israel and the United States during the month of Elul, a time of reflection and preparation for the High Holidays.
